Raindrops
The Inevitable Art of Sticking Together
Raindrops
I like how the feelers
Find each other
Like raindrops traveling down
A pane of glass
Singular and solitary
Until they inevitably connect
Collect
Molecular cohesion
Nourishing better as a whole
I’m a liberal arts gal; always have been. The psychological ambiguities and literary interpretations and philosophical contemplations and historical implications have always been my jam.
But every once in a while, I get the urge to science something real hard. We can blame the good old Enlightenment for this separation between the arts and the sciences. At some point we started treating thinking like a toddler’s plate at Thanksgiving; we have to make sure our food doesn’t touch. I don’t ascribe to that ideology. My plate is messy and piled up and maybe all covered in gravy.
So…above is a poem about how the like-minded stick together like raindrops. How the ways we feel draw us together like magnets. How our drastic individualism inevitably leads us to community, and it would take a massive chemical reaction to separate. How apart we are a sip. And together we quench thirst.
Blessings, my friends.
